Network Systems Administrator
Job Description:
- Manage the design, configuration, installation, upgrade, map and repair of wireless as well as local and wide area network hardware and infrastructure.
- Install and test computers and related software and hardware in a networked environment.
- Knowledge and experience with network e-mail.
- Evaluate, test, and recommend appropriate technology.
- Prepare budget for networking needs.
- Install and test approved software and software upgrades in a networked environment, including versioning software for our security product Secure Receptor™.
- Read technical journals and/or manuals, attend vendor seminars and appropriate professional development workshops to learn about the maintenance and use of emerging computer hardware, software, and network systems.
- Train staff with simple network troubleshooting techniques.
- Adhere to and promote the ethics of copyright law application.
- In addition to an internal system administrator role of maintaining computer systems:
- Install PacketDNA software at client sites.
- Consult with clients regarding installation specifics, and deliverables in conjunction with PacketDNA development staff.
- Record installation procedures and interoperability issues for documentation upgrade.
- Participate in software development life cycle including, requirement analysis, integration, verification, bug tracking, maintenance, and software quality.
- Work on test cases and testing environment for software validation.
- Report on installation status.
- Contribute to a team environment and strive for continuous learning and improvement.
Job Requirements:
- The candidate must have strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Strong writing skills are required in preparing manuals for employees and customers.
- The ideal candidate will be self-directed, results driven, and have excellent analytical and prioritizing skills.
- Wireless networks and IT security experience is required.
- The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work well in a team environment, and with all levels within the PacketDNA as well as external contacts.
- Minimum 5 years experience with network administration.
- The incumbent must keep their skills current and acquire new ones through continuing education programs of hardware and software vendors, colleges and universities, and private training institutions.
