ISSUE: Device Constraints and Performance

DESCRIPTION

There are a broad range of devices (wired and wireless) that deliver advanced computing capability often with substantial differences between OS environments, and the management of device resources. This makes the management of a consistent security policy more complex. Also, business applications with privacy and security requirements on mobile devices are growing rapidly. The need for a comprehensive security solution that considers the constraints of mobile end-point devices is now more crucial.

Encryption is a task that consumes computer resources and can negatively impact the mobile user’s experience. Most of the mobile security products available today are based upon a full disk encryption (FDE) approach that consumes resources. CPU, battery, storage, and bandwidth all suffer along with user patience when FDE operations are executed on constrained mobile devices.

PacketDNA Solution

PacketDNA’s Secure Receptor™ was designed to consider the constraints of mobile devices. Our patented Context Smart Encryption Management system addresses device constraints by only encrypting files that actually need to be encrypted. Context Smart Encryption Management use security policies to define and enforce encryption only on and only when encryption should be applied.

Secure Receptor™  B.A.S.E. (Background Agent Secure Engine) component resides on a client device with a small footprint.  B.A.S.E. executes security as per policy. There is no endpoint user interface making security policies execute transparently.

COMMENTS / BENEFITS

Security and performance are often at odds but with our high performing Secure Receptor™’s implementation of Context Smart Encryption Management this is not so.
