ISSUE: Integration & Interoperability

DESCRIPTION

There are often a range of integration and interoperability issues that need to be resolved before the various device manufacturer, operating system vendor, and software vendor systems will work together harmoniously to deliver comprehensive security.

The challenge of implementing, managing, and enforcing security policy across a range of wired and mobile devices is a daunting task. The behaviors and features of security tools and components can be quite different; in some cases similar enough to conflict.  This can make it very difficult for enterprises with an assortment of devices such as desktops, laptops, PDAs, Blackberrys and increasingly smartphones to consistently deploy, manage, and enforce policy in a direct or easy to administer way.

Integration and interoperability problems are compounded when you consider the issues associated with the security required on a laptop while connected behind a corporate firewall. Now consider the tighter security required for the same laptop when connected through a wireless hotspot in a public space.

There are a growing number of applications for networked, as well as mobile devices that provide a measure of security such as: firewall, virus, spam filters, asset management, data security, authentication and others. The more “solutions” attempting to address the range of security issues – the greater the challenge of interoperability and integration.

PacketDNA Solution

Secure Receptor™ operates closely with the OS and does not conflict with applications.

Secure Receptor™ is not a suite or family of products with varying behaviors. It is a seamlessly integrated policy management, encryption management, device control and communications into a system controlled by a central web based server.

The modular design of PacketDNA’s architecture allows for the easy replacement of the default encryption module (AES 128) with ECC (Elliptic Curve Cryptography) or alternative encryption algorithms. Similarly, Secure Receptor™ can integrate with alternative authentication, firewall, anti-virus, or other pre-existing components of a security infrastructure.

Secure Receptor™ utilizes a central web based console to configure, deploy, manage, and enforce and audit security policy. Our easy to use GUI allows administrators to manage a comprehensive, multi-layered security policy, across multiple device platforms to establish:
  • Encryption – file type, storage location or application based
  • Device management – automatic detection, access, processes, or ports control
