ISSUE: Policy Configuration, Deployment & Enforcement

DESCRIPTION

In the struggle to keep your information yours, formulating a comprehensive organizational security policy that includes mobile devices is a challenge. A related challenge is effectively implementing, managing, and enforcing a consistent security policy across a range of wired and mobile devices.

Security measures and capabilities are provided in part by various device manufacturers, operating system vendors, and software and hardware vendors. The behaviors and features of the various security tools and components can be quite different, incomplete, and in some cases similar enough to conflict.

There are often a range of integration and interoperability issues that need to be resolved before systems work harmoniously together to deliver comprehensive security free of security soft-spots or holes. The management of policies in a consistent, easy to administer way is especially difficult for organizations with an assortment of devices such as desktops, laptops, PDAs, Blackberrys, and other devices.

Security policy management and enforcement issues are compounded when you consider for example, the different degree of security required on a laptop connected behind a corporate firewall, and the security policy required for the same laptop when connected through a wireless hotspot.

Effective data security must ensure that users cannot circumvent, modify or disable policies.

Users prefer security measures that do not restrict or negatively impact their workflow. To properly address the security requirements for applications such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Business Intelligence (BI), email, and others, security tools must offer flexible granular control of policy.

The growing complexity of laws and regulations surrounding privacy and security increase the requirement for policy management and enforcement tools that facilitate consistent, comprehensive security policies.

PacketDNA Solution

Secure Receptor™ utilizes a central web based console to configure, deploy, manage, and enforce security policy. Our easy to use GUI allows administrators to establish comprehensive, multi-layered security policy across multiple device platforms in a consistent manner. Policies are then pushed out to client devices.

Secure Receptor™’s B.A.S.E. (Background Agent Secure Engine) component resides on a client device. Security policies are then enforced transparently. There is no endpoint user interface. All system files are hidden, and digitally signed. There is no ability for users to modify or circumvent policy.

Secure Receptor™ makes it easy to manage updates, ensure enforcement, and track all device activity for audit purposes.

Secure Receptor™ delivers the ability to dynamically implement a policy based upon the connection status of a device (stand-alone, or connected); thus, a more restrictive policy can be easily implemented on a device to establish a higher level of security when it is moved from an office to a public hotspot.

Secure Receptor™’s Central Console allows administrators granular control to establish comprehensive security policy involving:

  • Encryption – file type, storage location or application based
  • Device management – automatic detection, access, processes, or port control

All of the functionality described above for security policies can also be undertaken on the fly with override remote ad-hoc commands from the central console. Secure Receptor™ gives administrators a tool to centrally configure, deploy, manage, and enforce all security policy. Users have no ability to alter or circumvent policies.
